Kool aid Playdough

I was wondering if anyone has tried to make this playdough and used food coloring instead of the koolaid?

Otherwise the playdough goes bad before the children even got a chance to get it full of germs to be worth being thrown out!!!

I find that you either have to use kool aid or cream of tartar.
